PEACE BLITZ – Why Hatred Hurts Everyone
M.C.V. Egan invited me to post today as a part of the PEACE BLITZ Blog Hop. She’s suggested that everyone talk about peace and tools we can all use to increase knowledge as a way to promote peace. Anyone who’s been ready my blog knows my interests vary. I talk about religion, I talk about books, I talk about erotica. I don’t usually talk much about politics, but I’d guess ya’ll can surmise where I stand on most things.
Shadow on the Wall, despite being a rather violent book, is written in the hopes to encourage peace. My main premise was, people aren’t that different, no matter how much we think separates us. We all live and breathe the same air, we all work to provide for families and children, we all strive to be better. Well, maybe not all of us, but the majority of people anyway. When you boil us all down to ids, egos, bones and sinew, it’s really all the same. Sometimes the things that look the most different aren’t so scary when you get up close.
It’s a really big world out there, one where fear and hate are used by those in power more often than hope and love. Why is that? Why is it that every great prophet’s words are twisted into messages of hate instead of love? At the end every religion is very similar, love each other, let God worry about the rest.
So the message of peace I’d like to share with my readers and those following the blog hop is that I want to know you. I want to know what you’re afraid of, what you believe in, what you are willing to stand up and fight for. Knowledge of systems and cultures will help promote peace, but more than that knowledge of each other will bring us a peaceful existence. I hope you’ll join me in making some new friends today and taking a moment to stop and listen. What you learn might change the world.

I am afraid that we do not realise how very similar we are and I am inspired by your words always …thanks!
Thanks for having me doll, this was a great event, I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s posts.
Loved it, Pavarti! I have subscribed to your future posts
Great Amilia! I look forward to chatting more
I hope you aren’t easily offended… My blog can be, umm, lets just say I’m very frank.
Very well said! Thank you for your words about how similar all religions are. If only people can realize how very similar yet unique we each are and accept it then we’ll be more at peace with everyone.
Tela
So true Tela. Almost all religions have a version of “The Golden Rule” in it. Which is basically just, be nice to other people. When we do that, we can get really far.
Pavarti – You struck a nerve with this topic! I think about peace all the time these days. I ask the question of myself whether I can live up to my personal need to participate in the peace process. Then I catch myself trying not to be irritated with the person who mindlessly cuts me off on the highway putting my life and the lives of others at risk for no understandable reason.
I fear for those who are vulnerable to violence. I hope for those who have violent tendencies to have a change of heart.
Gary, yeah, it’s not easy. I’m the first one to get riled up about things usually but I try, very hard, to keep my focus on peaceful understanding. I can’t say I always succeed.
I think you’re right, the one thing that has ignited more wars than any other is fear. Fear of what the others are like, what they believe in, if they’re better than us, if they like us, if they wish us harm… if we stopped letting our fears drive us, life would be a lot better. Awesome post!
