Home Again
I’ve returned home from the BEA. Actually, I got home on Friday and have pretty much slept since then. 2 naps on Sat plus one yesterday. I could have done it again today but this was the official first day of summer vacation, including Ninja’s daily typing tutorial and 4 hours at the pool. As you can imagine, I am pooped.
BEA was an amazing experience. I wish I hadn’t been so out of it all week. Stupid anxiety disorder. I will be writing up a series of posts about what I learned while I was there for Novel Publicity, but to boil it down, as usual – don’t be a douche.
Naomi Wolf was gracious and beautiful.
The author of The War of the Roses was humble and excited to be there.
Others were less professional and it makes me sad. Both for the industry but also for the hours of time and love readers devote to books. I adore books and by extension their authors. I’d like to believe they loved me back, at least enough to look me in the eye when autographing a book. What I will say is that the Indie Authors there were friendly, professional and not a single one let me down.
I received a number of free books from the event, some of which I’ll be reviewing, some of which I’ll be using for giveaways. Watch the blog for more.
Smooches to all my readers. I, for one, love you back.
