Celebrating Bloggers! Post and Giveaway.
The fantabulous Terri Giuliano Long invited me to participate in her Celebrating Bloggers Blog Hop and I couldn’t resist. I’m not a big blogger like some of you guys out there but I love to blog and love to talk about books and writing and porn and all the other fun things that pop up in my crazy head. That and I’ve been blown away by the support and love other bloggers have extended to me as an author. And so, I’m writing about why I do it and why I love you guys. Hope you enjoy!
[jbox color="green"]Why I Blog
I started blogging on Live Journal back in the day to connect with my friends. I’d been active in a (Don’t Laugh) Buffy The Vampire Slayer chat board on TWOP and really enjoyed the people there. Some had Live Journals so I started one too. At first it was really just me and my friends. I talked about getting pregnant and watched as they married, divorced, laughed and cried. And I got to be a part of it. In a lot of ways, this was my first online community and many of them are still online friends and some have become real life friends (Hi Kerry!). After being on LJ for like 10 years I moved to my own blog. I was writing and wanted someplace that could be my on-line home that, well, selfishly was just about me.
Not long after I started blogging I met Emlyn Chand and discovered Novel Publicity. Under her tutillage I learned how to blog so folks actually wanted to read what I wrote and started doing book reviews. It was slow at first, I reviewed books already on my book shelf, not quite sure what I was doing, but I kept at it, learning and blogging and making new friends.
Now, I can’t imaging NOT blogging. I love my How to Write Porn Series and how many great books I’ve had the chance to support thanks to this little corner in cyber space. What I started with the intention of being all about me, has become something bigger that I can use to help YOU. Its fun to watch as my readers and guest bloggers get to know each other and makes the big world of blogging a little smaller.[/jbox]
[jbox color="red"]Why I Love Bloggers
As for why I love you guys? Well, you’re all a little nuts and it makes me feel like I fit right in
There’s nothing better than surrounding yourself with smart people who get as excited as you do about the things you love! And to have one of the things you guys love be my books is an overwhelming feeling. Every now and then I’ll discover a review I didn’t know someone was writing or notice a conversation about my book that doesn’t include me and it’s really exciting. As far as communities go, the book bloggers are some of the most giving people I know. You give of your time, your energy, your passion, your advice and often your money.
Without bloggers there would be no Indie Movement in the publishing world. There would be no breakout bestsellers and I’d still be writing fan fiction
. Without bloggers I wouldn’t discover great new books like KINGDOM by Anderson O’Donnell (a blogger talked me into reading it and I’m glad I did). I love you guys and I’m grateful to have found you![/jbox]

You are so right about why we love bloggers so much! Oh and the reason we blog? Yes of course there is that crazy thing going on, but the opportunity to support other Independent Authors tops my list.

Dropping by from the Celebrating Bloggers Blog Hop. :3
I totally remember the days of LiveJournal! I kind of miss them sometimes, the communities you could join were totally fun. Although, the modern day blogger doesn’t need to be an HTML wizard to get a decent looking blog, which I was really thankful for!

Hi!
Stopping in from the hop –
Yay! for the Buffy reference. ^_^ (Big fan of Joss Whedon)
I’ve also discovered new books and new authors through other blogs — I think it’s an incredible community and I’m learning a lot from being a part of it. ^_^
